Facelift and cheeklift

A cheek lift brings back the fullness of your cheeks, softening lines and providing a youthful appearance.

Deflation and descent of the cheeks (or midface) is a major factor in facial aging. It leads to dark shadows and hollows under the lower eyelids, drooping of the corners of the mouth and significant worsening of the jowls. Repositioning of the cheek tissue to a higher youthful position can diminish these signs of age.

This is a more extensive procedure than eyelid and forehead lifting and will require longer recovery times. The elevation of the cheek tissues does produce some bunching of skin & deeper tissues next to the eye for several weeks. It will naturally return to its smooth appearance and the ultimate benefits will be fully realized.

Are you a candidate?

Individuals of any age who desire improvement in the nasolabial folds will benefit from the cheek lift procedure. This midface procedure is ideal for patients who have:

  • unwanted drooping in their midface
  • a hollow look under the lower eyelids.
  • a tired, aged look to the midface.

Some patients who are considering possible cheek augmentation with a cheek implant may also be candidates for the midface lift. For a procedure that is minimally invasive, the results can be quite dramatic and long lasting. Come in today to see if you are a candidate for the midface lift.

Procedure Description

The cheek lift restores the natural curves and fullness in the cheeks by moving soft tissues back to where they were earlier. This is achieved by elevating the soft midface tissue from the bone, repositioning it upward towards the eyes, and fixating it in place until it re-adheres naturally to the bone. This restores cheek volume and establishes more youthful midface contours. The result is a natural, revitalized appearance that doesn’t appear overdone or “pulled.”

When performed skillfully, a cheek lift will deliver a natural but noticeable improvement. It is frequently performed with other surgeries, such as a lower facelift, eyelid surgery, or a brow lift. However, for younger patients, under the age of 45, midface rejuvenation is often a stand-alone procedure.

Recovery

Immediately after surgery, you will experience some temporary swelling and bruising in your midface region, which may take several weeks to completely resolve. The first night, it’s important to rest with your head elevated to decrease swelling and bruising. You can use a cold compress to help control swelling. Additionally, pain medication may be prescribed for post-operative pain. You can usually take a shower within a few days and most patients are ready to return to work in about two weeks.
